Cyril Verley is a registered architect and founder / president of CDV Systems, a global building information modeling industry leader, providing a full range of Revit & Codebook consulting since 2002. CDV’s award-winning BIM services brought Revit success to thousands of Architects, Landscape Architects, Interior Designers, MEP Engineers, Structural Engineers and Facility Owners worldwide. Verley and his team continue providing firmwide implementation of Revit via CDV’s Collectus application: a remote BIM Management product providing AEC firms and Facility Owners a complete & fully functioning, ready to use, cloud based, 36,000+ components Revit Standards library package for all disciplines with an Integrated BIM Execution Plan. This package has been evolving for the last 20 years and defines the overall BIM standard requirements, model deliverables and best practice workflows for any firm or institution wanting to harvest BIM data for their FM & GIS needs. Verley also created CDV’s unique “Train the Project” training methods along with CDV’s Virtual Training Center which were both started in 2005. “We were especially influenced by CDV Systems' unique success in getting its clients quickly and effectively trained and production-ready on Revit” writes Mario Guttman, HOK’s Director of BIM Worldwide. “CDV Systems approach is known to jump-start productivity, minimizing non-billable hours and maximizing time and cost savings.”

CDV Systems was hired by Cannon Design between 2012 to 2017 as the Revit and CodeBook BIM managers for their new 3.5 million SF hospital called CHUM. “We had a terrific working relationship with CDV” writes Christine Cavataio, Senior VP & Chum Senior Project Manager. “Being one of the largest projects fully executed in BIM with so many unique needs – dual language capabilities, staffing sizes and locations, equipment tracking, etc., we realized we needed the support of industry BIM leaders to supplement our team. Luckily, we found CDV Systems who became an integral part of our overall team and helped us leverage tools, techniques, and talent to a new extent.” The CHUM project was also the genesis of a Revit application called ViewAQC, created by 26 Degrees Software, founded by Verley and two other partners. As a Revit application managing live view references across multiple Revit models, ViewAQC’s unique functionality was critical to coordinate & cross-reference views between the 41 architectural Revit CHUM models within the 6000-sheet document set. Today, ViewAQC is used by many firms worldwide including 7 of the top 16 ENR 2022 Top 500 Design Firms.

Verley has lectured dozens of times on BIM topics since 2004 at trade events like Autodesk University, Revit Technology Conference, Campus FM Technology Association, Healthcare BIM Consortium, Tradeline Lean Facilities Conference, Build Boston & EcoBuild NBIMC. In 2003, Verley was the first to write industry-wide Revit training Intro and Advanced Training courseware for Revit. Other publications written by Verley include “The Business of BIM Part 1 & Part 2”, “BIM to FM & GIS” and “The Challenges of BIM Today”.

Between 2000 and 2002, Verley was hired by Revit Technologies Corporation as a Marketing Manager and later promoted to Director of Partner Development. During that time, Verley put CDV Systems’ CAD activities on hold while he further developed his expertise with Revit.

Between 1992 and 2000, Verley founded CDV Systems, to provide AutoCAD and Architectural Desktop management, training and CAD standards setup & review for the New England and

Midwest AEC market. Verley set up and reviewed CAD standards for 40+ offices ranging from 15 to 400 CAD workstations. Verley also set up, managed, and reviewed over 75 client AutoCAD and ADT projects ranging from 10 million to 1 billion dollars which include 2D production, 3D modeling and animation. Verley wrote 3rd party AutoCAD software programs for CAD Management, Plot Tracking and Time Tracking. He also provided custom LISP, DCL and ARX code work to his clients. Between 1998 and 2000, Verley was also an Autodesk Authorized Independent AEC Consultant and was contracted by Autodesk as the "Subject Matter Expert" to write the lessons for Autodesk’s Official Training Courseware (AOTC) for Architectural Desktop Release 2 & Release 3. These books were sold worldwide for projects in metric and imperial units. Verley also provided “Train the Trainer” training for other AEC Consultants at various Autodesk Annual events.

Between 1990 and 1992, Verley was hired by Goody Clancy & Associates as an Architectural Designer to join the design team to work on a new $60 million Biology Facility at M.I.T. This was Verley’s introduction to 2D AutoCAD. All through schematic design, Verley modeled the exterior shell design schemes using AutoCAD 3D surfaces. He was promoted to CAD Project Manager and managed production staff for the 2D CAD construction documents and created all the 3D project models using AutoCAD throughout all phases of the work. All final 2D exterior elevation CDs were derived from the 3D model. This workflow was unheard-of in the early 90’s using CAD. Autodesk featured 3D images of the MIT Biology building in their 1992 corporate Annual Report. Verley was promoted to GC&A's CAD Manager for their 45-station Novell network, developed CAD standards and trained their staff in AutoCAD R9 to R14.

Between 1988 and 1989, Verley was re-hired by the French firm: Douat, Harland et Associates Architecture as a Senior Architectural Designer using ArchiCAD 3D. Located in Clermont-Ferrand, Verley took advantage of his US-French dual citizenship allowing him to work on French projects. His responsibilities included design and presentation drawings for an international design competition, which received 2nd place, and schematic design / design development for several housing projects.

Between 1986 and 1988, Verley was hired by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP in NYC as a Designer and was later promoted to Senior Designer. His introduction to CAD was using a 2D CAD program called "Draft", developed by SOM. Verley’s responsibilities included initial zoning design studies, schematic designs and design development presentations for a variety of building types including office towers, hotels and apartment buildings. Bill Helmuth, who is now CEO of HOK, was Verley’s boss and mentor.

Between 1985 and 1986, Verley was hired by the French firm: Douat, Harland et Associates Architecture as an Architectural Designer. His responsibilities included design work on various housing projects.

In 1985, Verley graduated from Syracuse University’s School of Architecture with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. Activities and Societies included a Minor in Music (Orchestral Percussion) and President of Tau Delta Phi Fraternity.

Courseware written by Verley: 2002 - 2010: CDV Systems training courseware for Revit Architecture along with training videos.
