About this session:

Outside Air and Ventilation have always been of major concern for any facility manager. This presentation will look at codes and best practices governing outside air and ventilation requirements, as well as review real-world examples that happened before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, this presentation will teach the participant to review design documents, as well as Test & Balance and Commissioning reports in order to address potential issues impacting their buildings. This presentation will also provide specific technical information on best practices to read and adjust outside air and ventilation in order to be code compliant and achieve energy savings. Finally, the attendee will be able to tie all of these elements together in order to ensure the health and safety of their occupants while ensuring the most cost-effective operations as possible under given conditions.




1. Differentiate between basis of design, mechanical code and best practices when addressing building ventilation.
2. Assess current building ventilation conditions using a variety of proven and acceptable methods.
3. Compare required ventilation requirements to actual building operating conditions.
4. Analyze test and balance reports, commissioning evaluations and system audit data to develop best courses of action.
