Reduce Water usage through Sub-metering

About this session:

It seems that water is always in the news. Half the country does not have enough water and the other half is experiencing floods. In some cases, both are happening at the same time. Ironically, both drought and flood mitigation are pushing up rates. Property owners are demanding that facilities managers reduce water consumption. Unfortunately, many of these projects fail to achieve the anticipated ROI. Utilities spurred by the Federal Government have long faced these same challenges and have learnt that the best way to reduce water usage is to track consumption by metering. People will use less water if they pay for what they use. Why not do the same? This seminar will discuss, water sub-meter components from meters, to transmitters. Also, the benefits of encoded vs pulse water meters, AMI vs AMR, fixed network collectors vs Cellular cloud vs on site data collectors, and available software packages. We will examine case studies of hospitals, shopping centers, universities and office parks. Attendees will leave this seminar with knowledge on how to choose the best components for their projects, and how to avoid the pitfalls of sub–meter projects. The last ten minutes will be set aside to discuss general conservation trends in North America with Hershel Weiss, Master Plumber, Mechanical Engineer, and water guru.
