About this session:
Integrating resiliency into operations and building design is especially critical for service facilities due to the essential nature of their work. This seminar explores how both risk management and resilient design can mitigate the impact of potentially hazardous events. We will define resiliency through the lens of human and operational sustainability and apply this to operations and maintenance facilities in particular. The seminar will cover the key stages of risk mitigation: identifying, assessing, and prioritizing risks. While some organizations have established hazard management plans, these principles can be applied more broadly to strengthen resilience across sectors. Participants will explore strategies to enhance structural durability, ensure energy independence, and maintain critical systems during emergencies. We will explore how these strategies will be tailored to the unique needs and conditions of each site and agency. Practical applications and case studies will demonstrate how resilient infrastructure supports both people and operations. Join us for a discussion on developing both adaptable and secure facilities through risk management and resilient design.
1. 1. Define resiliency in the context of human and operational sustainability, with a focus on operations and maintenance (O&M) facilities.
2. 2. Identify, assess, and prioritize risks that could impact the functionality and safety of O&M facilities.
3. 3. Apply risk management principles to enhance resilience and mitigate the effects of potential hazard events.
4. 4. Explore strategies for improving structural durability, ensuring energy independence, and maintaining critical systems during emergencies.
